About Us

Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization Greece (ASAM Greece) is a non-governmental organization that operates in Greece with the aim to provide comprehensive support to vulnerable populations, including refugees, migrants, women, children, youth, persons with disabilities and the elderly.

ASAM Greece is a part of the ASAM, an independent, impartial and non-profit organization, established in Türkiye in 1995. In addition to the presence in Greece, ASAM also has representations in Belgium and Ukraine, and ASAM Syria will be operational in the first quarter of 2025.

ASAM assists all vulnerable groups within Türkiye, including refugees and asylum seekers. Previously registered with the name the “Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants”, ASAM has expanded its working scope and the target group in line with ‘Leaving-No-One-Behind’ principle; has gone through a restructuring process and has created its new corporate identity in October 2023 with its new name. While ASAM continues to provide services to asylum seekers and migrants, the organization is now encompassing all the vulnerable segments of the community and develops programs which structural problems as well. In that sense, on top of being a prominent humanitarian actor, ASAM is becoming an important development actor as well. Within this new vision, today ASAM is working under 4 main sectors being: Migration, Sustainable Development, Empowerment of Vulnerable Groups and Protection and Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Response.

Moreover, ASAM is a signatory of the UN Global Compact and holds special consultative status in ECOSOC and is a member of international networks such as European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE), Anna Lindh Foundation, EuroChild, International Step by Step Association (ISSA), Mediterranean Children’s Movement (MCM), and European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD).

ASAM has been operating in Greece since 2016. Since its establishment until 2024, ASAM Greece has been closely following the developments in the fields of asylum-seekers’ and refugees’ access to rights and services, irregular migration, protection and similar areas and the work of critical actors operating in this field. From time to time, ASAM Greece also participates in national working groups and supports the efforts of civil society organizations.

In 2024, ASAM Greece decided to expand its team and its work. Accordingly, a new Action Plan is prepared for 2025-2027.
